Assistant Women’s Golf Coach
University in Albany, New York is looking for an Assistant Women’s Golf Coach.
Position Overview:
To effectively serve the Department of Athletics and assist the Head Women’s Golf Coach by performing administrative roles and responsibilities that will help effectively manage the day-to-day operations of a Division I golf program. The success of the program will be evaluated overall success (conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances), recruiting, retention and graduating student-athletes and community service. The purpose of this position is to have the necessary knowledge and experience to teach and educate student-athletes on proper fundamentals, techniques and game strategies.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Assist the Head Women’s Golf Coach with all aspects of the program including recruiting, official and unofficial visits, practice planning, game preparation and scouting, coordinate video exchange, student-athlete welfare, academic compliance and monitoring, NCAA, Conference and University rules compliance, fundraising and community service.
• Comply with all university, New York State policies and procedures related to budgeting, procurement, expenditures and reimbursements.
• Annually attend the mandatory sexual violence prevention program as required by federal, state, SUNY and University policies and procedures prior to or at the beginning of the academic year.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of coaching experience at the high school level or above, college and professional coaching experience is preferred. Successful experience as a professional golfer or graduate assistant or intern in an athletic program is acceptable for up to one-year of the required experience
Knowledge of NCAA rules.
Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, administrative, verbal and written communication skills are required.
Computer skills with a general knowledge of ARMS software and the ability to learn additional software programs as needed.
The ability to work with people in a multi-ethnic environment is required.
The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those other cultures or backgrounds is required.
The scope of this position requires weekend, evening and possible holiday hours.
Compensation:
$50,000.00 per year.
