Azure Data Architect

Full Time

We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Architect to lead discovery and assessment engagements as part of our data modernization initiatives. This role requires a strong technical foundation in Azure data services, a strategic mindset, and the ability to engage with stakeholders in a consultative manner to assess current data landscapes and define modernization roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Discovery & Assessment:
    • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing data platforms, pipelines, and architectures.
    • Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities for modernization and cloud migration.
    • Evaluate data sources, data quality, governance, and integration patterns.
  • Architecture & Strategy:
    • Design high-level Azure-based data architectures aligned with business goals.
    • Recommend modernization strategies including cloud-native services, data lakehouse patterns, and real-time analytics.
    • Define future-state architecture and migration roadmaps.
  • Consultative Engagement:
    • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to understand strategic objectives.
    • Facilitate workshops and interviews to gather requirements and align expectations.
    • Present findings and recommendations in a clear, business-friendly manner.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Create detailed assessment reports, architecture diagrams, and executive summaries.
    • Develop proof-of-concepts (PoCs) to validate proposed solutions.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture, with at least 3 years in Azure data services.
  • Expertise in Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL, and related services.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, ETL/ELT, and data governance.
  • Experience with assessment frameworks and tools (e.g., Cloud Adoption Framework, Well-Architected Review).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to lead discovery engagements and deliver actionable insights.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Azure Solutions Architect or Data Engineer certification.
  • Experience in industry-specific data modernization (e.g., healthcare, finance, manufacturing).
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Purview, and security best practices in Azure.

  • Strategic thinker with a consultative approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and driving clarity.
