Job Description

Cordia Resources by Cherry Bekaert is partnered with a national boutique fitness studio who is seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing Payroll Specialist to join their team from now through the end of January 2026 with the possibility of a contract-to-hire position.

Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: Hybrid - Rosslyn, VA
Hourly Rate: $30.00/hour
Job Type: Contract / Contract-to-Hire

Reporting to the Senior Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for processing a semi-monthly multistate payroll with precision and expertise. You will work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment to maximize efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process multistate payroll and manage workflow to maximize efficiency.
  • Audit timesheets to ensure correct distribution of wages and benefits.
  • Record and document transactions as directed.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve discrepancies, reporting to management.
  • Monitor accounts for accuracy and ensure accurate taxation and garnishment.
  • Participate in end-of-month closing and audits.
  • Conduct year-end reporting for W-2s.
  • Respond to payroll-related questions promptly via email.
  • Communicate with HR teams for account updates.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance payroll operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and institutional requirements.
  • Demonstrate respect for client privacy.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures.
  • Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Full-time, contract position with an hourly rate of $30.
  • Hybrid schedule: Three days per week onsite at our Rosslyn office, two days remote.
  • Proficiency with G Suite and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll or a similar role.
  • Experience with multistate payroll for 1000+ employees is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-growing environment.
  • Tech-savvy mindset with a passion for design and improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with payroll software Namely or Workday is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of employee tax forms.
  • Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.
