Description We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in San Francisco, California. This role involves managing bi-monthly payroll for a diverse workforce, including unionized employees, and ensuring compliance with labor practices. The position will require onsite work initially, with the possibility of one remote day per week after the onboarding period. Responsibilities: - Process semi-monthly payroll for approximately 190 employees, including 123 unionized staff. - Ensure timely payroll delivery during accelerated pay periods and handle manual checks for involuntary terminations. - Utilize ADP Workforce Now for payroll processing and manage union-related reports using Excel. - Post payroll data and manage uploads for retirement plans, 403(b) contributions, and union portals. - Address payroll-related inquiries and maintain clear communication with employees and the benefits team. - Verify hours worked during holiday periods and ensure accurate data entry. - Secure payroll data for audits and maintain compliance with organizational schedules. - Manage garnishments and other payroll adjustments as needed. - Collaborate with the benefits team and provide support for payroll-related functions. - Maintain accurate records and ensure adherence to labor laws and union agreements. Requirements - Minimum of 2+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably with unionized employees. - Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and Microsoft Excel. - Strong understanding of payroll laws and labor practices. - Experience with full-cycle payroll, including garnishments and union reporting. - Highly organized with the ability to work under tight deadlines. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and team members. - Previous experience securing payroll data for audits is preferred. - Certified Payroll Specialist (CPP) certification is a plus but not required.
