As a Principal Software Engineer I on the “Data Platforms” team, you will lead a high performing Generative AI enablement platform team which enables charter employees to leverage AI capabilities to enhance productivity. Data driven decision-making is a core tenant of Spectrum, and the SpectrumGPT team enables this process. This role will work to help the team prioritize, build, and ship the most impactful AI features to Charter’s employees and serve as a mentor to help guide and train other engineers on the team. This position will evaluate the needs, time limitations, and system limitations when developing software. This position must remain up to date on new technologies and software development practices, and is able to translate these skills to their team’s deliverables.
WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEERS ENJOY MOST
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Contribute to the technical direction, execution and final decisions for all software solutions created (includes information architecture, software architecture, software design, testing, automation, analytics and instrumentation).
Design, implement, monitor, enhance and troubleshoot systems in assigned areas.
Analyze, revise and document difficulties in existing system logic.
Lead multiple teams spanning various technical disciplines including but not limited to web and app development and testing.
Manage high performing teams by leading, developing, training, hiring, and providing effective coaching to attract and foster talent.
Regularly attending team meetings to discuss projects, brainstorm ideas, and put forward solutions to issues.
Take ownership and make technical decisions on software development projects.
Develop and implement software according to proposals.
Estimate scope of work and implement software proposals.
Create project documentation.
Keep current with trends and technological innovations in the industry in order to contribute to the execution of proofs-of-concept for new approaches.
Collaborate with leadership and key stakeholders to define and develop technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices.
Participate in collaborations with business and technical teams to review conflicts/gaps between functional goals and existing capabilities.
Adhere to best practices for code development, version control, continuous integration/delivery, and test/build automation.
Comfortable defining and evangelizing mobile app and web technologies across the organization
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of Python & Node.js, including its various packages and ecosystem.
Proficiency in TypeScript, React.
Strong knowledge of RESTful API development and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with automated unit testing and testing platforms.
Experience with OpenAI integrations
Extensive experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or any other cloud providers and its range of services.
Experience with relational (MySQL), non-relational databases such as Postgres and Vector DB’s such as Postgres Vector DB / Milvus etc.,
Thorough understanding of code versioning tools, particularly Git.
Proven experience with agile development methodologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical abilities and troubleshooting skills.
