Summary: In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the daily operations of our warehouse team, fostering a positive and productive environment, and contributing to the professional and personal growth of your fellow associates.
Team Leads may be required to travel to support the needs of the organization Responsibilities and Expectations: As a Warehouse Team Lead, you will support the Warehouse Manager in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of your assigned shift. Your responsibilities will include:
Team Support & Guidance: - Provide on-the-floor support and guidance to warehouse associates.
- Assist in the training and onboarding of new team members.
- Help ensure understanding and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and required processes.
- Act as a point of contact for team members' questions and concerns.
- Foster a positive team environment aligned with company and department culture.
Operational Support: - Assist in coordinating daily tasks and workflow to maximize productivity.
- Help confirm understanding and proper execution of day-to-day processes (e.g., roll number assignment, claims processes, tagging accuracy, organization, inventory procedures, safety policies, and business regulations).
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the warehouse.
- Oversee the accurate and efficient loading of trucks.
- Manage organized workflows to ensure timely completion of will-call orders.
Inventory Assistance: - Accurately assign roll numbers and ensure the accuracy of roll tag changes.
- Communicate any transfers attached to work orders or stock transfers to the appropriate personnel.
- Report all inventory discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure proper receiving procedures are followed, including accurate labeling of items.
Sample Assistance: - Complete sample stock requests in a timely manner and delegate assistance when needed.
Leadership & Communication: - Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and adherence to all policies.
- Ensure all company and safety policies and procedures are understood and followed by the team.
- Communicate when there is a need for overtime and requests for additional personnel to the Warehouse Manager in advance.
- Inform the Warehouse Manager of any personnel or performance issues (both positive and negative) and assist in corrective action execution.
- Provide informal coaching and development to team members, fostering their growth as well as formal training according to standards.
- Coordinate with appropriate teams for inbound/outbound transfers and assist with resolving delivery issues.
Customer Service: - Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
Reporting Structure: You will report directly to the Temecula Operations/Warehouse Manager. For interdepartmental issues, follow the established communication protocols outlined by the company.
Qualifications: - Demonstrated strong alignment with Turf Distributors core values, particularly the commitment to team development.
- Proven ability to excel in assigned warehouse responsibilities.
- Experience in providing guidance and support to colleagues.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workload effectively.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
- Be certified to operate forklifts and operate an Accu-cut proficiently.
