Overview:

Quinnipiac University's School of Health Sciences invites applications fora dynamic and experienced 12-month, clinical faculty at open rank and administrator for the Pathologists' Assistant Program, who will teach graduate courses and coordinate student clinical placements for the Pathologists‘ Assistant Program.

In this pivotal role, you will have the opportunity to shape the minds of tomorrow's healthcare leaders by delivering high-quality instruction and providing invaluable guidance to students in the Pathologists' Assistant Program. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing engaging curriculum, coordinating clinical rotations, and fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes academic excellence.

This position reports to the Program Director of the Pathologists’ Assistant Program. The expected start date is immediately and is an on-ground in-person position.

About the School/Program:

The School of Health Sciences is home to approximately 100 full-time faculty and professional staff and enrolls over 2120 students across over 20 graduate and undergraduate academic offerings. The school is organized into 8 departments offering undergraduate majors in biomedical sciences, health sciences, radiologic sciences, medical microbiology & Immunology and diagnostic medical sonography and graduate majors in physician assistant studies, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, biomedical sciences, pathologists’ assistant and cardiovascular perfusion. Responsibilities:

• University Support:Uphold the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Quinnipiac University and the School of Health Sciences.
• Teaching:
• Teach 2 graduate courses per semester (e.g., Microscopic Anatomy, Human Anatomy, Pathophysiology).
• Teach 1 additional clinical practicum course in surgical and autopsy pathology per semester.
• Administration:
• Manage clinical rotation schedules and evaluate student progress and clinical faculty at affiliated hospitals.
• Advise and counsel students; support job placement and ASCP exam prep.
• Lead student recruitment, application review, interviews, and selection.
• Coordinate clinical courses and maintain student records.
• Accreditation:
• Support NAACLS accreditation and maintain relationships with ASCP and AAPA.
• Program Evaluation & Improvement:
• Conduct program evaluations, analyze trends, and update curriculum based on data and industry standards.
• Participate in faculty evaluations and maintain regular communication with stakeholders.
• Record-Keeping:
• Maintain records for student progression and accreditation compliance.
• Professional Development:
• Complete 60 hours of continuing education every 3 years per ASCP guidelines.
• Other Duties:
• Provide service to students and the university community.
• Advise graduate students and perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Education Requirements:

• An earned master’s degree; 

• Graduated from a NAACLS accredited pathologists’ assistant educational program; 

• Possess a valid certification as a Pathologists’ Assistant from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). 

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 2 years of either full or part-time teaching experience in a university setting
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of pedagogical methods and administration for pathologists’ assistant education program 
• Commitment to contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community is expected
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds

Preferred Requirements:  

• Possess knowledge and/or experience in NAACLS accreditation standards and procedures; 
• Precepted and/or students' clinical placement for Pathologists’ Assistant program .
